Ghost Ranch, New Mexico - 3D reality model produced from over 1,000 individual UAS (drone) images captured by our partner, FlightlineGeo.

Ghost Ranch is the setting for literally dozens of blockbuster motion pictures including Indiana Jones, No Country for Old Men, The Lone Ranger , City Slickers and many others. In 2015, the ranch was hit by a devastating flash flood that damaged facilities and infrastructure. An engineering study was commissioned to see if mitigation efforts were even practical. FlightlineGeo captured 1,000 acres of the drainage basin through the box canyon using survey control and high quality digital SLR cameras and lenses. Waypoint Imaging processed the raw data into an engineering-grade reality model and GIS data layers for analysis. The results can be seen below, as the reality model is flooded with a simulated 20 foot flash flood. Pipeline Erosion Analysis in Ozark National Forest, Arkansas - 3D reality model and LAS point cloud produced from over 3,000 individual UAS (drone) images captured by our partner, FlightlineGeo.

A major pipeline passes through some very rugged forest terrain through the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas and was having an issue with landslides and erosion along the 33 mile route. Since this route transits some of the most rugged and remote terrain in the state, UAS was chosen over traditional methods of a ground survey or costly LiDAR studies. FlightlineGeo captured the site in high definition 3D using survey control and high quality digital SLR cameras and lenses and the raw data was processed by Waypoint Imaging. The resulting reality model enabled calculation of the volume of slumping and sliding terrain and will allow for monitoring over time.

Ethanol Plant, Kansas - 3D reality model produced from over 1,000 individual UAS (drone) images captured by our partner, FlightlineGeo.

An ethonol production facility in Kansas turns corn into fuel and was in need of expansion. At the last minute, the plant management discovered that a new drainage study and site plan would be required from the local municipality in order to approve the expansion permit. The company only had FIVE DAYS to produce the study and appear at a hearing on the permit consideration. Traditional methods of developing a 3D terrain map were too costly and took far too much time to accomplish to be able to meet the deadline. FlightlineGeo captured the site in high definition 3D using survey control and high quality digital SLR cameras and lenses and the raw data was processed by Waypoint Imaging. The resulting reality model enabled calculation of the volume of the tank containment structures and the corn stockpiles and runoff - all provided to the engineering company with three days to spare and well-below the cost of traditional methods!
